Hutchinson Man Arrested on Aggravated Robbery Charge

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Tuesday morning Officers with the Hutchinson Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Main Street in reference to an armed robbery. An 82-year-old female victim reported hearing someone rattling the back door of her residence.  Moments later she walked out of her house and confronted an unknown white male suspect in her yard. The suspect displayed what she believed was a large knife, verbally threatened her, and demanded she give him money.

The victim was able to make her way to a nearby business to contact the police department and seek shelter. The suspect briefly entered the business as well causing a verbal disturbance with employees.

Officers were able to contact the suspect on scene who was uncooperative and battered one of the officers while being taken into custody. Preston L. Lewis WM/35, of Hutchinson, was arrested for 1) Aggravated Robbery 2) Battery LEO 3) Aggravated Criminal Threat 4) Interference with Law Enforcement 5) Disorderly Conduct x2 5) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  No injuries were reported by any of the victims.
