Bulldogs Close Out Sweep of York on Senior Day

McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs picked up their seventh series sweep of the season with a 7-2 win over the York University Panthers Sunday (Apr. 30) on Senior Day at Bulldog Park.

The Bulldogs took an early lead and never looked back, scoring one run in the first, one in the second, and three more in the third to grab a 5-0 advantage. Hunter Robinson was excellent, going 4-for-5 at the plate, including an RBI single in the second. Dawson WaltersHayden Foster, and Andres Artola each drove in a run for the Bulldogs in the third inning.

The Panthers scored both of their runs via the long ball, with solo home runs by Secudino Morales in the fourth and Ian Heck in the sixth.

Caleb Feuerstake rounded out the scoring in the seventh with a single to centerfield, bringing Robinson and Kurt Golubski around to score.

21 Bulldogs saw the field in this one, including six pitchers getting action. Tyler Norris got the start, throwing 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. Alex Amaral struck out two of the three batters he faced, while Darby GilbertDrake Miller, and Kento Saiki each finished with one strikeout.

The Bulldogs entered the contest one game behind Kansas Wesleyan for the KCAC regular season title, but following a 9-4 win by the Coyotes, the Bulldogs secured the two seed in the KCAC Tournament. The Bulldogs will play on Thursday (May 4) at 11 a.m. against the winner between Tabor and Friends.
