Barnett Hired as Director of Strength and Conditioning

STERLING, Kan. (scwarriors.com) – Sterling College Athletics, and Vice President for Athletics, Scott Downing, announced today that Marty Barnett will be Sterling College’s next Director of Strength and Conditioning.

Barnett comes to Sterling after spending the last 14 years in high school athletics as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Assistant Football Coach, as well as filling teaching assignments. Since 2016, Barnett has been the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and PE Department Chair at Rejoice Christian Schools in Owasso, Okla. where he has overseen multiple teams that have won state championships in his time there.

Prior to Rejoice Christian, Barnett was at Moore High School in Moore, Okla. for a season as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He spent six years at Victory Christian Schools in Tulsa, Okla. before heading to Moore High School. While at Victory Christian, his teams saw much success in the post season as well.

Barnett has also spent time working with Division I and professional athletes prior to moving into high school athletics.

Barnett is excited to bring his family back to south central Kansas. “I would like to thank Scott Downing and Justin Morris for the opportunity to join the Sterling College Family. I am excited to be a part of the mission and vision of Sterling College. My wife and I are native Kansans and we are grateful for the chance to come home. We look forward to getting started and building relationships in Sterling.”
