Buhler Soccer Falls to 0-2 Amidst Tough Early Schedule

HUTCHINSON, Ks. – The loss of seven seniors from last year’s state runner-up team has certainly been felt at the start of the spring for the Buhler girls’ soccer team. That being said, the season is young, and head coach Randall Rank’s teams have a way of playing their best soccer when it counts most.

The Lady Crusaders fell Thursday Night, 3-0 at Hutch. It’s part of a brutal stretch, in which Buhler will play five matches on the road, all against quality 5A and 6A teams.

“A lot of growth tonight,” Rank said. “The girls handled adversity extremely well. This experience will make us better.”

Thursday’s loss came following a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat at Newton earlier in that week. Goalkeeper Sammie Brooks was sensational, unofficially recording  28 saves. The Railers’ lone goal came on a corner kick with 1:27 left in the contest.

Up next, a 6A giant in Garden City to open the Goddard Tournament on Monday. Tickets for the event are available for purchase at this link.

If the belief that tough competition makes you better proves true, Buhler will be battle tested and tough to beat come league play later this month.
