Swedes End Regular Season Strong; Win Against County Rival on Senior Night

LINDSBORG, Kan. (bethanyswedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes Women’s Basketball Team took down their cross-county rivals, the McPherson College Bulldogs, in Bethany’s regular season finale.

The Swedes took a hefty lead of 26 points into halftime as Bethany was able to hold McPherson to single-digits in the first two periods of play. Kisa Unruh led the Swedes offense in scoring with all 12 of her points coming from behind the arc. Also, during the second quarter, R’Manie Pulling was able to sink a couple of free throws to tally up her 1,000 point while playing as a Swede.

The second half was won by the Bulldogs 44-34, but they were not able to erase the sizable lead the Swedes built in the first. Bethany would take the win 77-61. Lauren Gleason would lead the offensive attack with 8 points in the half.

R’Manie Pulling led the Swedes in scoring with 16 points followed by 12 each from Kisa UnruhAutumn Garrett, and Lauren Gleason. Gleason recorded 6 rebounds which were a team-high. Garrett and Pulling would tie for the team lead in assists with 4 apiece.

Defensively, Makenzie Noll showed prowess with a team-high 3 steals while Kylie Dunn brought her swatter to the contest blocking 3 shots on the evening.

As a team, the Swedes blocked 6 total shots and all blocks came from the guard positions. Bethany was more efficient from the field than McPherson shooting 44.1 % from the floor compared to 29.2%. The Swedes were also close to 50% from beyond the arc.

Bethany has a bye this weekend and know they will be playing Friends University at home on Thursday, February 23, for the first round of the KCAC Playoffs. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm in Hahn Gymnasium.
