McPHERSON, Kan. — Curtis Rose exploded for a career-high 33 points Saturday night (Feb. 4), but the McPherson College Bulldogs were unable to come away with the victory, falling to the York University Panthers on Senior Night inside the Sports Center.
The Bulldogs started ice-cold from the field trailing by 17-4 seven minutes into the opening half, but Rose took over for the Bulldogs scoring on three straight possessions to help cut the lead to 22-21. The Bulldogs held a 44-41 lead at the break.
The second half was tight, with neither team leading by more than four points.
Then, trailing 77-74 late in the contest, Owen Braxmeyer tried to will his team to victory with a pair of contested layups, but a three by Brent Clark put the Panthers on top 82-78.
Rose’s 33 points were the most by any Bulldog this season. Hardaway scored 15 points for the Bulldogs and grabbed seven rebounds.
Clark paced the Panthers with 29 points and seven rebounds. Much Biel added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bulldogs wrap up their home schedule with a KCAC showdown with No. 21-ranked Southwestern College on Wednesday (Feb. 8). Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
