STERLING, Kan. — Sterling College is pleased to announce the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the C.S. Lewis Center, a new hub for literary exploration, spiritual engagement, and scholarly study dedicated to the works and legacy of C.S. Lewis. The ceremony will take place on Monday, March 24, at 10 a.m., inside Mabee Library on the Sterling College campus.

The C.S. Lewis Center is designed to encourage engagement with Lewis’s literary, theological, and philosophical contributions. Through reading groups, academic research, public lectures, and student-led discussions, the center will serve Sterling College students and faculty, the broader Sterling community, and Lewis scholars regionally and beyond. The center will host monthly book discussions, readings, guest speakers, and conferences, offering a dynamic space for learning and dialogue.

“We are so excited to be launching the Lewis Center here at Sterling College, and I hope to give you as warm a welcome to the center as the College and community have already given me to Sterling. We would be delighted if you could join us as we celebrate this author, his legacy, and the worlds and words he left behind for us to continue to explore,” said Dr. Sarah Waters, director of the C.S. Lewis Center.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Sterling College President Scott Rich, Dr. Sarah Waters, and other representatives. The Sterling Chamber of Commerce will participate in the official ribbon-cutting, and guests will have the opportunity to explore the center, view a special book exhibit featuring the complete works of C.S. Lewis, and enjoy refreshments provided by Clive’s Staples Coffeehouse.

This event will serve as a local launch for the center, primarily focused on introducing it to the Sterling College and South-Central Kansas communities. A larger grand opening and dedication ceremony is planned for September 2025, which will invite distinguished C.S. Lewis scholars and a broader audience for a more in-depth celebration of Lewis’s legacy.

The C.S. Lewis Center at Sterling College will continue expanding its offerings, including plans for a C.S. Lewis Conference next spring and a collaborative summer reading program with Clive’s Staples Coffeehouse.

The event is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.
