LINDSBORG, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Lady Warriors had a cold night Wednesday, Jan. 15 in Lindsborg, Kan. in their 49-60 loss to Bethany College. Sterling shot 34% from the floor including 11% from three and 52% from the charity stripe.
Sterling came out slow, starting off down 11-4 in the opening quarter and ended the first period of play down 24-15.
Even with sluggish shooting, the Lady Warriors were able to keep themselves in the game with their press and defensive effort causing the Swedes to turn the ball over 21 times.
Sterling’s defensive intensity also caused Bethany some issues shooting, as the Lady Swedes didn’t fair much better: 30% from the field, 23% from beyond the arc and 63% from the free throw line.
Rebounds proved to be the marginal difference in the game as Sterling was outrebounded 44-27.
Korynn Clason led all scorers with 20 points and led the Lady Warriors in rebounding and blocked shots with six and two respectively. Evie Gill also contributed six rebounds and eight points.
Kali Briar led Sterling in assists and steals with four and three, respectively.
Sterling (6-5, 10-7) will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 18 against Southwestern (2-8, 2-11) in the Gleason Center.
