Four Lady Warriors in Double Figures in Dominant Performance over York

STERLING, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Lady Warriors got down to business Saturday against the York University Panthers, and came out with a commanding 91-58 win in the Gleason Center.

Sterling made sure the result was never in question, right out of the gate Korynn Clason let everyone know how the game was going to go with a tip-in bucket on the first possession. By the end of the first quarter Sterling held a 25-19 lead.

Momentum stalled slightly for the Lady Warriors in the second quarter as they were barely outscored, 14-12 by the Lady Panthers. However, Sterling turned it around in the second half shutting York down defensively and scoring at will. The Warriors would double York’s offensive efforts in the third quarter outscoring them 30-16 and the fourth quarter 24-9.

Dominant performances were noted throughout the game for the Lady Warriors. Clason had another 30-point game, putting up 34 points and leading the team with nine rebounds. She also contributed three assists and two steals.

Kali Briar led the team with seven assists while chipping in 10 points of her own and three steals. Alissa Heskamp also had a big night for Sterling with 18 points, three assists and two steals.

Defensively, Karlee Jacobs was flying around the court and creating absolute chaos, causing a large number of York’s 34 turnovers and coming out with a team high four steals on the day. She also recorded 13 points for the Lady Warriors.

Sterling College (6-4, 10-6) will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Bethany College (6-3, 8-7).
