YORK, Neb. (SCWarriors.com) – SC Volleyball was not able to close out after taking a 2-0 set lead over the Panthers of York University. The Lady Warriors played well in the first set, never trailing by more than 2 points and running away with a 25-17 win. They were in control the whole way in the second set, including leading by as many as 10 at one point in the set. Towards the end of the set, however, York was able to go on a bit of a run and Sterling ended up winning the set by just six points, 25-19.

In set three the momentum changed. York jumped out early to a five point lead and Sterling, although they tried, were not able to catch up. Sterling had a shot late in the set trailing 21-22 before York closed out for their first set win, 25-21. York came out firing again in set four opening a 6-1 lead. They maintained a fairly comfortable lead until the Warriors brought the score to within one at 15-16. Another run by the Panthers and they opened their lead back up and ran away with a 25-18 win that tied the sets at 2-2. Another hot start by York in the fifth set put the match away. The Panthers fired off to a 6-1 lead once again in the 15 point fifth set. Sterling was not able to recover and lost 15-7.

Sterling had strong net play much of the night by Kodie Herd (16 kills, 2 blocks) and Aliya McClanahan (13 kills, 4 blocks). Freshmen Chloe Schmidt (9 kills, 4 blocks) and Alyssa Gregory (9 kills, 2 blocks) aided in the hot start by the Warriors. Aubrey Young had her best night of assists this season with 44. Makenna Linden anchored the back row once again with 29 digs. The Lady Warriors fall to 9-6 (0-2) on the year.
