GREAT BEND, Kan. (BartonSports.com) – The 4th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team served up its second straight conference sweep on Tuesday night at the Barton Gym, defeating Pratt Community College 25-18, 25-14, and 25-19.
Remaining perfect on the year, the Cougars move to 2-0 in league play and 11-0 overall while the Beavers fall to 0-1 in conference play and 1-8 on the season.
Barton will step out of conference play to conclude its three match homestand Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. hosting the junior varsity squad of McPherson College before beginning a two-day weekend trip Friday in Sterling, Colorado at the Sheila Worley Tournament.
Phoebe Reyes‘ 12 kills on 29 attempts for a .310 attack led a pair of Cougars recording multiple kills. Kassidy Nixon‘s third double-double of the season paced Barton’s .278 attack converting 10 of her 16 swings for a team best .500 percentage while adding a game high and season best 19 digs on the defensive end.
Sara Zuluaga Nohava set a new season high with five kills off the bench on her six swing attempts while adding a pair of blockages. Aubrey Olander held team honors at the net providing six blockages with a solo and four assisted blocks.
Directing Barton’s offense, sophomore Elena Stankovic put up a match high 23 assists to finish in double-figures for the 11th straight time this season with Maurin Reyes add 22 distributions and sharing team high honors with Josie McLean, each serving up a pair of service aces.
