GREAT BEND, Kan. — The anticipation is building as the IGNITE Rural Business Competition reaches its peak. With the top 8 businesses currently engaged in a high-stakes semi-final round, presenting in-person pitches, the race to the finals has intensified. This October 10th, the excitement culminates in the live finals at the historic Crest Theater in Great Bend, Kansas.
On September 27th, Great Bend Economic Development (GBED) will unveil the finalists who will take the stage in the ultimate showdown. These outstanding businesses, representing the best of Barton County’s emerging entrepreneurs, will compete for a transformative opportunity. The top three to five finalists will battle for the grand prize of $50,000, second place will receive $30,000, and third place will take home $10,000, providing a powerful launchpad for future success.
IGNITE isn’t just about prizes—it’s about fostering innovation, creativity, and economic growth in Barton County. The competition stands as a testament to the commitment of GBED and the wider community to empowering small businesses and shaping a bright future for the region.
The live finals will be held at the iconic Crest Theater, a historic gem in downtown Great Bend. Thanks to the efforts of Barton Community College’s Director of Theatrical Activities, Dan Williams, and Gary Parr of Parr Sound & Lighting, the stage will be transformed into an exciting shark tank-style set, creating a dynamic atmosphere for this thrilling event.
Doors open at 6:00 pm, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy refreshments in the theater’s lobby. VIP sponsors will also be treated to a private reception in the balcony area, complete with wait staff.
