COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – Neosho County Community College has been picked to win the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference division two men’s soccer regular season title in a vote of the league coaches as part of the 2024 predicted order of finish.

After tying for the 2023 regular season title last year, the Panthers received 23 total points along with three of five first-place votes to edge out Johnson County Community College who earned a total of 20 points and the remaining two first-place votes to be picked second among the five league coaches. Neosho went 10-5-4 overall last season, falling in the Plains District Title game last season to Northeast Community College who carried a perfect record to the NJCAA Division II Tournament semifinals last year before falling to eventual National Champion Iowa Lakes. Johnson County meanwhile finished with an 11-5-3 overall record and split the regular season series with Neosho before losing the rubber match game in the KJCCC playoffs to end their season.

Following Johnson County is Allen County which picked up 15 points to be picked third under 19th-year head coach Doug Desmarteau as the Red Devils will look to improve upon last year’s 8-5-4 overall record and appearance in the NJCAA Region 6/9 Championship game last year where they fell in double-overtime to Neosho. Following Allen and picked fourth with 12 points was Pratt followed by Hesston as the Beavers and Larks combined for nine total victories last season.

The 2024 regular season will get underway on Friday, August 23rd with three of the five teams in action with Johnson County taking on Cape Fear Community College, Allen heading to St. Louis Community College, and Hesston hosting Ottawa University JV. Neosho will begin their 2024 campaign the following day with a home match against Dodge City while Pratt will begin their season on Wednesday, August 28th by hosting Rose State College with conference action getting underway on Wednesday, September 4th with Allen taking on Hesston in Hesston.
