BARTON COUNTY, Kan. — Three people were injured this morning in a three-vehicle crash south of Hoisington.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s office the crash occurred just after 7:30 a.m. on US 281 at 90 Road about a mile and a half south of Hoisington. A car driven by Devon Hiner (Great Bend) had stopped to make a left turn, with a vehicle driven by Eric Murphy (Great Bend) stopped behind Hiner. The third vehicle driven by Loretta Russell (Great Bend) hit Murphy’s vehicle, went airborne, inverted and landed on Hiner’s car.
Russell was pinned in her vehicle for about 20 minutes until Hoisington Fire and EMS were able to extract her. Three juveniles in Russell’s vehicle were properly restrained in car seats and were not hurt. All three drivers were taken to Clara Barton Hospital with what were reported to be non-life-threatening injuries.
