LINDSBORG, KAN. (BethanySwedes.com) – Bethany College was named a Champions of Character Five-Star institution for the 2023-24 year. Not only did the Swedes earn this honor, they were named Gold winners as Bethany scored a perfect 100 points.

Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure the pursuit of character-driven athletics. Schools scoring a minimum of 60 out of 100 points earn the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award. This year, there were 131 gold winners, 63 silver winners, and 15 bronze winners resulting in 209 NAIA institutions earning the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award. The NAIA presents the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award as either Bronze (60-74 points), Silver (75-89 points), or Gold level (90-100 points) institutions.

Traditionally, institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
