GREAT BEND, Kan. (BartonSports.com) – Four student-athletes from Barton Community College received Academic Scholars of the Year by their respective sport organizations for the 2023-24 academic year.
Lucas Constante of the men’s soccer team was recognized this past January in Anaheim, California, by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Junior College National Scholar Player of the Year with teammate Nicolas Galanis earning 2nd team national recognition.
The track and field team had three garner Field Scholar Athlete of the Year awards by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) at the conclusion of the year.
Trevon Hamer of the men’s team was awarded the Indoor Field Athlete Scholar of the Year helping lead the Cougars to a third place national standing in NJCAA classroom achievement.
The other two awards came from the women’s side, Treneese Hamilton named the Indoor Scholar with Ana Couto named the Outdoor in becoming a two-time award recipient after earning the Indoor honor last season.
