Multiple projects around Central Kansas will benefit from Community Service Program (CSP) Tax Credits announced Monday by the Kansas Department of Commerce. Two organizations in McPherson County and one in Great Bend are among the non-profit organizations what will receive $166,600 in credits.
$4.1 million in CSP Tax Credits have been awarded to support 26 nonprofit organizations across Kansas and their fundraising efforts.
Under the Community Service Tax Credit program, state tax credits are provided for donors supporting approved projects. These credits amount to 70 percent of donations for projects in communities with under 15 thousand population, such as Lindsborg and Moundridge, with 50 percent credits in larger communities.
The Hays Arts Council will use their credits in support of the Hays Arts Center and its Annex and activities they are involved with involving 12 elementary schools in five communities over three counties.
Victoria Community Coalition will use their $166,600 in credits towards redeveloping part of the former St. John’s Rest Home to provide independent living for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Great Bend Economic Development will use their credits in support of the IGNITE Innovation Center, which through collaborative partnerships in healthcare, workforce and education, will address community needs with services such as makerspaces, classes, co-working space and a workforce hub. This will integrate health screening, podcasting and a community kitchen to enhance well-being and connectivity.
